NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com)- After Toyota, General Motors is lined up to recall 1.3 Million small cars from North America. The cars are being recalled due to some steering problems in them which according to reports have allegedly caused 14 accidents. The models to be recalled are Chevrolet Cobalt, Pontiac 4, Pontiac G5 and Pontiac Pursuit, according to reports.
General Motors are recalling Chevrolet Cobalt which have been in the market between the year 2005 to 2010 and Pontiac G5 that were sold in US between 2007 to 2010. From Mexico, General Motors have recalled the Pontiac G4 that was sold in between 2005 to 2006, and Pontiac Pursuit users in Canada who bought their car in between 2005 to 2006 will have to send their car back to the company. These cars are being recalled according to reports, after the company carried out an investigation last year. It has also been reported that in US, investigations were carried out by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration after it received 1,100 complaints. There were 14 crashes and one injury report too, which are being allegedly linked to the fault in the General Motors cars.
The General Motors have revealed that on a low speed, the car models which are being recalled needed a “greater steering effort”. However, it has proclaimed that the car could be very well kept under control. General Motors Vice-chairman Bob Lutz has proclaimed to a media source that the fault has occurred due to the supplies that the company had received from a partially Toyota-owned company. Bob Lutz has also said that it is still not decided who will bear the cost of the damage.
