Summary Box: Commodities fall as dollar gains
COMMODITIES FALL: Prices for metals, grains and energy fell as the dollar rose against other currencies.
DOLLAR’S STRENGTH: The dollar rose as investors uneasy about Greece’s debt problems sought a safe place for their money. They shied away from riskier investments like commodities.
WEATHER EFFECT: Prices for grain, corn and soybeans all were pressured by improving weather forecasts in the Midwest, where corn planting is about to begin, and in South America, where it’s harvest time.
