Tamil Nadu Budget 2010 Presented

TAMIL NADU, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- K. Anbazhagan, the Finance Minister of the state of Tamil Nadu presented the 2010 budget in the assembly today. It is a deficit budget of Rs. 3,396.45 crore. The DMK government’s 4th budget may bring a relief for the common public who are reeling under the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities. The budget does not propose any new taxes which is a relief for the residents of the state. The minister unveiled the budget in Omanthoorar Government Estate’s new Assembly-Secretariat complex. The taxes on various items used by the mass have been curtailed in the budget.

As per the announcements made in the Tamil Nadu Budget 2010, the State Industries Promotion Corporation will set up an industrial park in Villupuram district. An amount of Rs 22 crore will be spent by the government to expand the Tamil Nadu State Wide Area Network. It will link the various departments of the Tamil Nadu government through the World Wide Web.

The Tamil Nadu Budget 2010 has also allocated a number of facilities to women. Iodized salt will be delivered to women who are pregnant. They will get it without paying anything from the fair price shops, as the budget says. The amount of allocation for the scheduled castes sub-plan has been raised to Rs 3,828 crore.
