Stage Stores adds retail industry veteran to board

HOUSTON — Department store operator Stage Stores Inc. said Wednesday has named retail industry veteran Cheryl N. Turpin to its board of directors.

Turpin, 62, becomes the board’s eighth member.

She has worked in the retail industry for more than three decades and served as president and CEO of Limited Stores from 1994 to 1997. She has also been president and CEO of both Lane Bryant and department store Weinstocks.

Turpin is a member of the board of directors at Footlocker Inc. and The Warnaco Group Inc.

Stage Stores fell 38 cents, or 2.4 percent, to close at $15.39.
