Kulicke & Soffa reports fiscal 2nd-quarter revenue, 3rd-quarter outlook above analyst views

Ahead of the Bell: Kulicke & Soffa reports results
FORT WASHINGTON, Pa. — Shares of Kulicke & Soffa Industries Inc. rose in premarket trading Wednesday after the chip manufacturing equipment company reported that fiscal second-quarter revenue and third-quarter revenue would surpass analyst expectations.
For the quarter that ended April 3, Kulicke & Soffa said it brought in revenue of $153 million. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters were expecting $146.4 million in revenue, on average.
The company also said that based on “unprecedented demand” it expects $205 million in revenue for the third quarter; analysts are looking for $143.1 million.
Kulicke & Soffa plans to release its full second-quarter results on May 6.
In premarket trading, Kulicke & Soffa shares rose nearly 21 percent to $9.50 from Tuesday’s close of $7.86. Over the past 52 weeks, the stock has traded between $3 and $8.23.
