Obama to announce health insurance benefits
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is set to announce new health insurance benefits for consumers to mark the first 90 days since he signed landmark legislation to expand coverage.
The White House says the announcement Tuesday will follow a private meeting between administration officials, several state insurance commissioners and CEOs of major insurance company.
Administration allies briefed in advance of the announcement say Obama will talk about regulations to implement a so-called patient’s bill of rights. They spoke on condition of anonymity ahead of the announcement.
Last week Obama said the bill of rights would include banning lifetime limits on coverage and prohibiting insurance companies from canceling the policies of people who get sick.
