NOIDA - A recreational-cum-commercial activities centre owned by the Great India Place mall in Noida was razed by the enforcement department here in the wee hours Saturday.

Sheodan Singh, the project engineer, said: “The centre was in contravention of the laid down land use.”

However, the mall’s management rejected the authority’s version and confirmed that till Jan 1, 2007 the land use was recreational but after that the land use was changed to commercial also.

A Great India Place mall management official, on condition of anonymity, said the mall could not provide the place for the wedding function of the daughter of a senior authority officer. Consequently, the centre was razed.
