AHMEDABAD - The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has accepted an invitation from the Gujarat government to be a ‘partner organisation’ in the Vibrant Gujarat 2011 Summit.

UNIDO is the specialised agency of the United Nations that promotes accelerated industrial growth in developing nations and countries with economies in transition.

It is the third organisation after the Commonwealth Business Council (CBC) and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to partner the fifth edition of the global summit to be held Jan 12-13, 2011.

B.B. Swain, state industries commissioner, said: “This partnership will play a crucial role in giving technical inputs to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). It will also focus on encouraging investments and participation in the summit. We are confident that UNIDO will bring important lessons to the summit about best practices internationally in sustainable economic development.”
