NEW DELHI - Chilly winds added to Delhi’s bitter cold Sunday with the maximum temperature not likely to exceed 12 degrees Celsius. At least a dozen flights were delayed at the airport here due to light fog.

“The minimum temperature was two notches below the average at 5 degrees Celsius. A chilly wind blowing over the capital is adding to the cold and it’s expected to remain the same for the next two days,” said an official of the India Meteorological Department.

The maximum temperature is not expected to rise above 11 degrees, he added.

There was a light fog cover over the capital early in the morning, which the weather office said will clear during the course of the day.

At least a dozen domestic and international flights were delayed at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport here, the IGI website said.

“Low visibility procedures (LVP) was implemented last (Saturday) night around 8.30 p.m. and were terminated by 8.35 a.m.,” an airport official said.
