Ore. tax foe, governor candidate wants quick trial

SALEM, Ore. — Anti-tax activist Bill Sizemore says he wants to be tried quickly on tax evasion charges so he can run for governor next year.

Sizemore and his wife Cindy made their first court appearance Monday. The couple are accused of failing to file tax returns for three years.

Afterward, Sizemore said he’ll ask for an expedited trial.

He has filed to run for the Republican nomination for governor and says jokingly he may have to run from behind bars.

The Sizemores are expected to enter their pleas to the charges at a Dec. 29 hearing.
