Starwood Hotels & Resorts closes on Bliss sale

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. said Monday that it closed on its $100 million sale of Bliss spas to Steiner Leisure Ltd.

The hotel and leisure company said the sale, which was announced in November, will allow it to concentrate solely on its hospitality operations and hotel brands.

As part of the deal, Starwood will still offer Bliss and Remede spas and amenities at its W hotels and St. Regis hotels. Its Aloft properties will continue to provide Bliss Tried+Blue products.

Starwood has 982 properties in more than 100 countries. Its other brands include Westin, Le Meridien and Sheraton.

Shares of Starwood Hotels & Resorts added 14 cents to $36.71 in midday trading.
