US Airways, Netflix, BJ’s Wholesale are big movers

NEW YORK — Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:

NYSE:

US Airways Group Inc., down 21 cents at $7.47

Severe winter storms caused $30 million in lost sales as the carrier had to cancel thousands of flights and suspend operations.

BJ’s Wholesale Club Inc., down $1.86 at $34.61

Warehouse club operator’s fiscal fourth-quarter profit climbed 5 percent and higher gasoline prices led to increased revenue.

Hovnanian Enterprises Inc., up 17 cents at $4.14

The homebuilder’s CEO said a modest surge in foreclosures this year wouldn’t have a devastating effect on sales.

Ethan Allen Interiors Inc., up $4.04 at $20.11

An analyst boosted his earnings estimate and said an increase in written orders is an encouraging sign for the furniture retailer.

NASDAQ:

Novell Inc., up $1.33 at $6.08

Private equity firm Elliott Associates LP offered to buy the 91.5 percent of the shares it doesn’t already own in the software company.

Imax Corp., down $1.39 at $12.86

An analyst said No. 2 theater chain AMC Entertainment will roll out its own oversized format, which could hurt Imax’s revenue.

Medivation Inc., down $27.15 at $13.10

Study results for Dimebon, an Alzheimer’s drug the company is developing with Pfizer Inc., were negative.

Netflix Inc., down $1.43 at $67.55

An analyst downgraded the stock as investors pulled back following a surge in the stock’s price over the past month.
