Smoky Mountains road reopened

GATLINBURG, Tenn. — A popular tourist road in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is open again after a rock slide was cleared and the pavement repaired.

The National Park Service reopened an eight-mile stretch of Little River Road late Tuesday night.

A rock slide near Metcalf Bottoms early Thursday morning halted traffic and caused a detour through Wears Valley.
