Oslo, April 13 (IANS/WAM) Norway and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will work jointly in the field of renewable energy to achieve sustainable development.

Norwegian Deputy Petroleum and Energy Minister Robin Kass made the remarks during an interview with WAM on the occasion of the visit of Crown Prince of Norway to UAE.

UAE has taken a very important step to generate electricity through nuclear power, Kass said, adding that this strategic decision will help meet the rapidly growing demand for energy in the UAE.

Kass pointed to Norway’s appreciation for the efforts of the Abu Dhabi government to build Masdar City and projects for assembling, transporting and storing carbon dioxide from oil and gas fields and electric power plants to curb pollution.

The Norwegian deputy minister said the Crown Prince’s visit to the UAE seeks to establish a permanent partnership with UAE in oil and gas industry, renewable energy, maritime transport and environmental projects.
