BHUBANESWAR - State-owned National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) Monday said it has commissioned an eco-friendly system of ash disposal at a cost of Rs.50 crore at its captive power plant in Orissa to reduce pollution.

The High Concentration Slurry Disposal system (HCSD) is one of the latest ways of ash disposal of modern power plants. NALCO has adopted it at its 1,080 megawatt captive power plant at Angul, 161 km from here, the company said in a statement.

The high concentration slurry disposal pumps are supplied by Weir Minerals, Netherlands.
