Sterling Commerce Acquired By IBM

OHIO (GaeaTimes.com)- Sterling Commerce has been acquired by IBM (International Business Machine Corp) for a total amount of $1.4 billion. The acquisition of Sterling Commerce shall be a boost to IBM’s e-commerce business which the company plans to expand on a fast note.

Steven A. Mills who happens to be the senior vice president of IBM said that he feels the acquisition of Sterling Commerce will be highly beneficial to the company and shall be a catalyst to the company’s growth structure. It was also said that Sterling Commerce will be accredited for the total earnings of the company and their revenue policy in a couple of years from now. The acquisition of Sterling Commerce has also given AT&T a pre tax of $750 million. The acquisition of Sterling Commerce happens to be one of the many acquisitions that the company has plans to settle by the year 2015. However, this is the biggest deal that was scored by IBM after it went ahead to acquire Cognos IncCognos Inc. for a total of $4.9 million way back in the year of 2007.

The official statement of IBM said that Sterling Commerce and its effective resources shall be employed to produce more automation tools for the customers of IBM. Besides it was also said that the total number of global customers of Sterling Commerce shall also fall under the company’s structure. They will make use of CloudComputingand in premise applications of Sterling Commerce. IBM is also planning to put to use it’s resources towards health care besides the existing manufacturing, communication and the financial services where Sterling Commerce has been a prominent player.
