Abu Dhabi firm bags $600-mn power plant contract

Abu Dhabi, June 9 (IANS/WAM) An Abu Dhabi renewable energy company has bagged a $600-million contract to build a solar power plant here.

Spanish solar energy company Abengoa Solar and French oil major Total awarded the 100 megawatts power plant contract to Masdar. It will be built in Madinat Zayed on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi.

The project is planned to meet seven percent of Abu Dhabi’s demand on clean energy.

The joint venture between Masdar (60 percent), Total (20 percent) and Abengoa Solar (20 percent) will develop, build, operate and maintain the plant.
