CHICAGO (GaeaTimes.com)- The Shrek glass recall fiasco has not affected fast food giant McDonalds much as it seems from its sales in recent times. The company has come into the headlines after it issued a recall affecting millions of special edition glasses with Shrek characters printed on them. The company reported a growth of 4.8 % in sales last month. The CEO of the company Jim Skinner said that the company managed to sale more due to the rising demand for some of its items like children’s meals, chicken McNuggets and iced McCafe drinks. While the sale rise in the USA was below 4 percent, in Europe the company witnessed better sales. The sales figures are quite encouraging.

Sales in places like France and Russia also increased last month as McDonalds has reported. However, weak euro can eat into it its profits this year as the company thinks. The market analysts are of the opinion that the company is faring way better than its competitors. The company’s limited-time menu and some new products have been well accepted by the customers. The McCafe line is also doing good business.

Last year McDonalds saw the sales declining by a fair margin and it resorted to price cuts and time limited offers to woo the customers. The company also took great care to refund the customers who were affected by the recall. The company does not want its image to get tarnished. The economy is recovering after a period of lull and it is the right time to consolidate its position in the market.
