ICICIdirect Down: Customers Cry Foul

  • NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The online investment services and retailing portal of ICICI Securities, ICICIdirect gave the customers a harrowing time yesterday when it went down unexpectedly. The breakdown took thousands of users totally by surprise and they were at a loss to understand what had hit the online portal. It got back to shape only this morning. The users got a message that the service will be restored by 8.55 am. However, things were not in place even that time and this made the customers impatient who could not do any kind of trading. To make matters even worse for them the CallNtrade facility which allows one to place his orders over phone went kaput.

    Some customers were really angry with ICICIdirect. They made repeated calls to the help line number to know when things will return to order but all they got to hear was the service was down due to technical problems. The fact that the customers had to follow a number of steps through the customer care of ICICI Bank helpline only made things worse for them. They had to spend more than 6 to 7 minutes to get to the right place for getting help. When some customers wanted to talk to the senior officials they were denied access to them.

    The irate customers vented their anger and frustration in the online forums and social networking sites. They lashed out at the poor and inadequate technical support ICICIdirect has. However, as per the latest update, the site is now back in shape and customers can log in.
