Neiman Marcus July revenue comparison up 12.3 pct

DALLAS — High-end department-store retailer Neiman Marcus Inc. said Thursday revenue in stores open at least one year rose 12.3 percent in July, helped by better sales of women’s clothing, shoes, designer handbags and jewelry.

The figure includes revenue at the company’s namesake stores as well as its Bergdorf Goodman stores.

Revenue was strongest in New York, Texas and the West.

Total revenue for the four weeks ended July 31 rose 13.6 percent to $226 million from $199 million last year.

For the three-month period ended July 31, revenue at stores open at least a year rose 6.5 percent, while total revenue rose 7.6 percent to $826 million from $768 million last year.

So far this year, revenue at stores open at least a year is down 0.1 percent, while total revenue is up 1.4 percent to $3.69 billion from $3.64 billion.
