Former GM CEO ends consultancy

NEW YORK — General Motors Co.’s former CEO, Frederick Henderson, ended his consultancy with GM as he becomes senior vice president of oil refinery Sunoco Inc.

Henderson’s appointment to Sunoco, based in Philadelphia, was announced last month. In a filing Wednesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission, GM said Henderson gave notice on Sept. 5 and the consultancy ended Thursday.

Frederick “Fritz” Henderson was ousted in December after eight months as CEO as the company struggled to find direction after filing for bankruptcy protection and emerging six weeks later. He had a 25-year career with the company.

The company has had rapid turnovers in CEOs since emerging from bankruptcy protection. Daniel Akerson became the fourth GM CEO in 18 months on Sept. 1.
