NEW DELHI - As part of confidence building measures in Jammu and Kashmir, the central government has set up two special task forces to examine the development needs of its Ladakh and Jammu regions, an official said Wednesday.

Narendra Jadhav, Planning Commission member, will head the group for Ladakh and his colleague in the plan panel, Abhijit Sen, will chair the Jammu task force, a home ministry spokesperson said.

The task forces have been constituted “to examine the development needs of the Ladakh and Jammu regions with particular reference to deficiencies in infrastructure and make suitable recommendations”, the spokesperson said.

The panel has been tasked to examine the two regions in terms of their infrastructure needs and make suitable recommendations to overcome the deficiencies, he said.

The groups would be provided with “all possible assistance” by the central and state governments. The two task forces have been asked to submit their reports within three months.
