Emirates arm to enter Indian market 2011

NEW DELHI/DUBAI - Luxury airline Emirates’ travel and tour segment company Dnata World Travel Monday said it will enter the Indian market by the second quarter of 2011 and focus on the corporate travel sector.

Initially focusing on bringing Dnatas expertise in the corporate travel sector to travellers in India, Dnata expects to commence operations by the second quarter of 2011, the company said in a statement.

The company also plans to hire more than 100 employees for its two centralised travel service contact centres in Delhi and Mumbai.

Unlike other regional ventures we have undertaken, we will not be have a local partner, but will be running the business and making the total investment ourselves, said Abdulla Tawakul, senior vice president, corporate and regional network, Dnata Travel Services in Dubai.

According to the company, initially it will also focus on corporate travel, meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions. Later, India operations may expand to retail and online booking.
