Audi’s October sales rises 208 percent

MUMBAI - German Luxury car manufacturer Audi Monday reported a 208 percent growth in sales in October, which stood at 357 units as against 116 units in the like period of 2009.

Based on our current global success, our no. 1 position in the luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) segment in India, we anticipate a strong fourth quarter and an exceptional growth rate for the year as a whole, said Michael Perschke, head - Audi India.

According to Perschke, the company plans to launch its premium segment car the Audi A8L by early 2011.

We are confident that the new Audi A8L will play a vital part in our India growth story, he said.

Currently, the company sells a range of cars in India which includes Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi Q5, Audi Q7, Audi TT and the super sports car Audi R8.

The consolidated sales of the company increased by 75 percent for the January to October period with a sale of 2,535 units as compared to 1,449 units in the same period in 2009.
