SRINAGAR - Reliance Communications Tuesday launched its 3G services in the Kashmir Valley, the first private service provider to do so.

To begin with, 3G services have been started in the three districts of Srinagar, Badgam and Ganderbal.

“Within next two months, we would be extending our 3G services network to other parts of the Valley,” said Vivek Kumar, in charge of Kashmir at Reliance Communications.

The 3G services in the north Kashmir ski resort of Gulmarg and the south Kashmir hill station of Pahalgam would be started next month, he added.

Speaking to media persons here after announcing the launch, Vivek Kumar said with 3G services in place, subscribers would have access to an Internet speed of 7.2 megabytes per second, 110 television channels, video conferencing, social networking and also mobile cinema.

“We strictly follow the directives of the union telecommunications ministry and also the various security related guidelines are followed by us while extending the 3G services to Kashmir and other parts of the country,” he added.
