The Reserve Bank of India will shortly put in circulation the following coins of the Fifty Paise, One Rupee, Two Rupees, Five Rupees and Ten Rupees denominations.
The coins of these denominations shall conform to the following dimension, design and compositions, namely-

The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar with the legend “mel³ecesJe pe³eles" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word "Yeejle" in Hindi and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA" in English.

The face of the coin shall bear denominational value “50” in the international numerals flanked on the left and right periphery with the floral design. The upper periphery shallalso bear the word "hewme" in Hindi and the word “PAISE” in English underneath denominational value. The year of minting in international numerals shall also be shown on the lower periphery.

One Rupee

The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar with the legend “mel³ecesJe pe³eles" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word "Yeejle" in Hindi and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English.

The face of the coin shall bear denominational value “1” in the international numerals flanked on the left and right periphery with the floral design. The upper periphery shall bear Rupee symbol “`” and the year of minting in international numerals shall also be shown on the lower periphery.

Two Rupees

The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar with the legend “mel³ecesJe pe³eles" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word "Yeejle" in Hindi and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English.

The face of the coin shall bear denominational value “2” in the international numerals flanked on the left and right periphery with the floral design. The upper periphery shall bear Rupee symbol “`” and the year of minting in international numerals shall also be shown on the lower periphery.

Five Rupees

The face of the coin shall bear denominational value “5” in the international numerals flanked on the left and right periphery with the floral design. The upper periphery shall bear Rupee symbol “`” and the year of minting in international numerals shall also be shown on the lower periphery.

Ten Rupees

The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar with the legend “mel³ecesJe pe³eles" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word "Yeejle" in Hindi and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English. The bottom portion contains the year in International numerals.

In the upper periphery, 10 Numbers outward radiating patterns depict growth and connectivity. In the centre it shall bear the Rupee symbol “`” and the lower periphery contains denominational value "10” in International numerals.
|
These coins are legal tender as provided in the Indian Coinage Act, 1906. The existing coins in these denominations shall also continue to be legal tender.
