Madhya Pradesh drawing up new biotech policy

BHOPAL - Madhya Pradesh will unveil soon a new biotech policy to help farmers grow medicinal and aromatic plants to earn more money, Horticulture and Food Processing Minister Kailash Vijayavargiya announced Monday.
Inaugurating a workshop on medicinal plants and natural products and a buyer-seller meet, he assured that the recommendations of meet will be implemented in the new policy.
Vijayavargiya said programmes will be chalked out to suit the 13 environment regions of the state, so that the farmers can grow medicinal plants and aromatic plants and earn a good profit.
He also announced that if proper prices for medicinal plants and bio-farming products are not received by the farmers, the state government will give a subsidy to them.
He said the farmers will be given certified seeds, and his department will also ensure they get proper marketing facility for their products.
