GANDHINAGAR - Tourists keen to attend the colourful Rann Utsav under way in Gujarat’s Kutch region can now avail of an added attraction - chopper services to the various destinations.
The Gujarat Tourism Department has arranged for two helicopters to visit Bhuj, Mandvi, Dholavira, Narayan Sarovar and Dhordo.
The five tourist spots have been equipped with helipads and the services will be available up to Jan 19, an official press release announced here Monday.
It is the first time such a facility is being provided during a tourism related festival in Gujarat. The month-long festival began Sunday.
“This is an additional incentive to provide an unforgettable experience to tourists visiting Kutch during the Rannotsav,” said Vipul Mittra, secretary of tourism and aviation.
The tourism department has tied up with two helicopter service provider companies for two choppers — a Bell-206 Jet Ranger four-seater and a three-seater US-made Robinson-44. Both choppers are based at the district headquarters of Bhuj.
