RAIPUR - Chhattisgarh’s Bharatiya Janata Party government Friday approved setting up special economic zones (SEZs) in the state, a minister said.
“The government has approved to set up SEZs in Naya Raipur and Rajnandgaon district in which government expects an investment of about Rs.5,000 crore from industrialists,” Industry Minister Dayaldas Baghel told reporters.
He said that the state government had planned to offer tax sops to the investors who wanted to pump in money in the proposed SEZs. The minister, however, evaded questions about how much land was required for the SEZs.
Naya Raipur that will replace Raipur as the state capital within a year or two, to be located about 20 km from here, is to be connected to Raipur by an expressway while Rajnandgaon is some 75 km from Raipur.
