Initial unemployment claims drop by more than 1,000 in Louisiana for week ending Dec. 19

Louisiana’s first-time jobless claims decline
BATON ROUGE, La. — The Louisiana Workforce Commission says initial claims for unemployment insurance dropped to 4,954 for the week ending Dec. 19, from 6,003 for the previous week.
For the comparable week a year earlier — the week ending Dec. 20, 2008 — initial claims were 5,976.
The biggest drop in initial claims was seen in the Transportation Equipment industry, the commission said.
