NALCO bags award for innovative practices

BHUBANESWAR - State-run National Aluminium Co (NALCO) has bagged a prestigious award for innovative human resource practices, the company said Saturday.
The state enterprise has bagged the ‘Organization with Innovative Human Resource Practices’ award at the Global HR Excellence Awards ceremony during the World HRD Congress-2010, at Mumbai Friday, the company said here in a statement.
NALCO headquartered in the Orissa capital Bhubaneswar, is Asia’s largest integrated aluminium producer.
“The company received the award in recognition to its innovative strategies for human resource management and development, and the unparalleled efforts in implementing best practices in managing its talent pool to achieve business success,” the statement said.
On behalf of the company, Joy Varghese, director (personnel and administration), NALCO, received the award from the chief guest, Prime Minister of Bhutan Jigmi Y. Thinley, it said.
The World HRD Congress-2010 based on the theme ‘The New HR Challenges (innovative talent strategies for tough times)’ was held at Mumbai from Feb 11th to 13th.
The congress was attended and represented by several leading industry leaders, CEOs, business heads, HR professionals and management consultants from over 96 countries.
