Chhattisgarh budget to focus on social, farm sectors

RAIPUR - The Chhattisgarh government will table the annual budget in the state assembly next week with special focus on social and agriculture sectors, an official said Tuesday.

“The cabinet has approved the state budget for fiscal year 2010-11 to be tabled in the state assembly Feb 22. The focus will be on social and agriculture sectors,” the official said.

Chief Minister Raman Singh, who holds the finance portfolio as well, will present the budget that is expected to have an outlay of around Rs.29,000 crore.

The government is expected to increase budgetary allocation for rural infrastructure to build roads inside forests, especially in the insurgency-hit 40,000 sq km mineral-rich Bastar region.
