BHUBANESWAR - Auto component supplier AMTEK Friday signed an agreement with the Orissa government to set up a Rs.15,820 crore project, including a mega auto park, in the state.

According to the memorandum of understanding, AMTEK will set up the auto park with a two million tonne per annum integrated steel plant and a 500 MW power plant at Tangi in Cuttack district, some 26 km from here.

“The project is expected to be completed within 36 months from the day the government hands over the land,” Industries Secretary Saurabh Garg told IANS.

The project will be spread over 2,500 acres, of which 550 acres will be for the auto park, Nanda Kishore Taori, managing director, AMTEK Metal and Mining Limited, told reporters.

The project when completed will provide direct and indirect employment opportunities to 33,000 people, the company said.
