RAIPUR - Dozens of illegal mobile phone towers installed by telecom companies in Chhattisgarh will be removed within a month, a minister said Monday.

“No telecom company will be allowed to install towers illegally. The government is going to act very tough on the issue and within a month dozens of such illegal towers will be removed,” Urban Administration Minister Rajesh Munat told the state assembly.

He said Chhattisgarh was formulating a policy that will check telecom companies from installing illegal towers.

Official sources said that state capital Raipur alone had just 182 mobile towers till Feb 2009, but in the past one year their number has risen to 383 and most of these had been installed illegally.
