The port’s Deputy Chairman Biplav Kumar told IANS that all the iron ore was exported to China. Rungta Mines Ltd was using the port the most for exports, followed by Essel Mining & Industries Ltd.

A record quantity of 751,792 tonnes of iron ore was exported via the port during the month of January 2010 surpassing the previous record of 744,669 metric tonnes during March 2006, he said.

“During 2010-11 we are targeting 17 million tonnes of iron ore” he added.
