GANDHINAGAR - The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Central Board of Excise and Customs(CBEC) to improve services for taxpayers, ICAI president Amarjit Chopra said Tuesday.

The initiative would help all those assessees who may not have the requisite infrastructure or resources to use the automation of central excise and service tax (ACES) programme, he said in Ahmedabad.

With this MOU, ICAI members can provide assessees of central excise and service tax in filing their returns and other documents electronically under ACES.

He said the institute’s knowledge portal will be made available to small and medium practitioners which will give them access to its publications, industry specific guides, and data facilitating the audit of transfer pricing transactions at negligible cost.
