MOU for platinum exploration in Tamil Nadu signed

CHENNAI - The Geological Survey of India (GSI) and Tamil Nadu Minerals Ltd (Tamin) will jointly explore the commercial viability of mining platinum group of minerals present in the Mettupalayalam and Namakkal areas of the state.

The two organisations signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) here Thursday for this purpose.

For the past three years, the GSI has been surveying various parts of Tamil Nadu to find the presence of platinum, the costliest metal in the world.

As per GSI’s studies, platinum is present in the Namakkal and Mettupalayam belts in the state.

As per the agreement, GSI will also carry out surveys to find the presence of platinum in other parts of the state.
