RANCHI - Control rooms will be set up in each village panchayat (council) in Jharkhand to monitor the drought situation and help farmers, an official said Tuesday.
“The governor’s advisory council has decided to set up control rooms at the panchayat, block and district level,” Cabinet Secretary Aditya Swaroop told reporters here.
The control rooms will be set up soon, he added.
All the 24 districts of Jharkhand were Monday declared drought-hit as the state has received less than 50 percent of the normal rainfall.
The state government Aug 3 had declared 12 of the districts drought-hit and later, four more were included. The remaining eight were also declared drought-hit Monday.
Governor M.O.H. Farook has directed officials to expedite relief work.
