Summary Box: Less gloom on economy clips Treasurys
ANOTHER SLIDE: Treasury prices slid again Thursday, though not as badly as they did the day before, following more positive news on the economy.
BLAME UNEMPLOYMENT: The government said first-time claims for unemployment fell last week to 472,000, less than the previous week and better than many economists expected.
OTHER INDICATORS: Other mildly positive indicators on pending home sales and factory orders also bolstered confidence in the economy, sending money out of safe-haven Treasurys.
