Maruti Suzuki records highest ever monthly sales

MUMBAI - Car market leader Maruti Suzuki Friday reported its highest ever monthly sales in September, rising 29.6 percent to 1,08,006 units from 83,306 a year earlier.
“This is the highest ever total monthly sales by the company. Previous highest was 1,04,971 units in August 2010,” the company said in a regulatory filing.
September 2010 is also the fourth time that company’s monthly sales crossed the one lakh mark, it added.
With these record numbers, the company crossed half a million sales mark in the first six months of a fiscal.
The company said its sales in the compact car A2 segment which comprises Alto, Wagon-R, Zen, Swift, Ritz and A-Star grew at 31.3 percent and stood at 68,921 units over September 2009.
The auto giant registered a massive growth of 43.2 percent in sales of its mid-sized (A3) segment comprising SX4 and ‘D’Zire at 10,531 cars.
In the C segment, the growth was 66.6 percent over the same period last year at 13,822. The B segment witnessed a rise of 17.7 percent at 266 vehicles.
