Hindustan Unilever’s second quarter profit up 32.10 percent

NEW DELHI - Leading fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) company Hindustan Unilever Monday reported a net profit of Rs.566.12 crore for the second quarter of the current fiscal, a growth of 32.10 percent.

The company has posted a net profit of Rs.5,661.20 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2010, as compared to Rs.4,285.30 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2009, the company said in a statement.

The total income of the Indian subsidiary of the Anglo-Dutch group reported a 12.16 percent rise, at Rs.4,841.49 crore compared to Rs.4,316.51 crore in the corresponding period last year.

The net sales also registered a growth of 10.7 percent, while domestic consumer business, including FMCG and water business segment, grew by 10.5 percent.

The foods segment of the multinational giant grew by 13.2 percent, the statement added.
