NALCO profit up at Rs.224 crore in Q2

BHUBANESWAR - The state-run National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO)’s net profit for the second quarter soared 40 percent at Rs.224 crore, the company said Saturday.
According to the reviewed financial results for the second quarter of the financial year 2010-11, NALCO has achieved higher net profit of Rs.224.04 crore, as against Rs.159.50 crore in the like quarter of previous fiscal, registering an increase of 40 percent, the company said in a statement here.
Similarly, the sales turnover surged by about 30 percent to Rs.1,548.75 crore over the comparative quarter of last year.
The net profit and sales turnover for the half year ending September 2010 were also higher at Rs.508.09 crore and Rs.2,936.91 crore, respectively, as against the corresponding figures of Rs.285.94 crore and Rs.2,169.70 crore achieved during the first six months of the previous fiscal.
During the first half, NALCO also achieved a record production of 221,963 tonnes of metal compared to 207,794 tonnes in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal — registering a growth of 6.8 per cent.
Similarly, the company achieved a higher metal sale of 217,136 tonnes during first half of the current fiscal, registering an increase of 9.2 percent against 198,803 tonnes sale of metal in the corresponding period last year.
