Tata Power net profit up 37 percent

MUMBAI - Private electricity generator and utility firm Tata Power Friday reported a 37 percent rise in net profit for the second quarter ended Sep 30 at Rs.251.73 crore as against Rs.183.19 crore during the same period in the last fiscal.

The net revenues of the company for the quarter under review stood at Rs.1,570.82 crore as against Rs.1,672.28 crore in the year ago period, the company said in a regulatory filing.

Consolidated net sales was Rs 4,797.8 crore for the quarter ended Sep 30 against Rs.4,561.1 crore in the previous corresponding quarter, rising marginally by 5.19 percent.

At the Bombay Stock Exchange the scrip of the company closed 1.43 percent lower at Rs.1,375.85.
