Sensex choppy; realty, capital goods stocks drop

MUMBAI - A benchmark index of Indian equities was trading weak in the afternoon session due to lack of supportive cues.
The 30-share sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) was trading 40 points down at 20,116 points in the afternoon session.
After losing over four percent last week, the index opened almost flat at 20,167.62 points and touched a high of 20,224.80 points and low of 20,046.60 in the intra-day trade.
Other benchmark indices of Indian equity markets too were trading weak.
At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the 50-share S&P CNX Nifty also witnessed a lackluster session. In the afternoon, the index was trading 0.33 percent higher at 6,093 points. The 50-share Nifty touched a high of 6094.95 and low of 6039.40 in intraday trade.
Weakness continued in realty, oil and gas and capital goods stocks.
DLF fell 2.38 percent to Rs.319.75. Other major losers at the Sensex were Reliance Communications (2.74 percent down, at Rs.165.30), Reliance Infra (2.43 percent down, at Rs.1,021.85) and RIL (1.33 percent down, at Rs.1,047.70).
