Delhi Metro’s ridership crosses 16-lakh mark

NEW DELHI - For the first time ever, Delhi Metros ridership crossed the 16-lakh mark as a record 16,06,493 commuters used the Metro Monday, an official said Tuesday.

The ridership had crossed the 15-lakh figure Sep 27 this year. The Central Secretariat-Sarita Vihar section was opened Oct 3, leading to a further increase in the ridership, the official said.

The Metro makes over 2,600 trips every day from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., covering a network of 156 kilometres across six lines.
