MUMBAI - Private air carrier Jet Airways reported an 18.1 percent rise in its international passenger numbers for the month of October, a statement said Tuesday.

“Strategic code-shares and innovative marketing have given us the required impetus that has helped stay ahead of the industry growth curve,” Jet Airways chief executive officer Nikos Kardassis said in a regulatory filing.

The number of international passengers for October stood at 3.82 lakh, compared to 3.23 lakh last year.

Onset of the festive season and improving global business scenario helped in registering the higher numbers, the statement added.

Jet Airways also reported an 11 percent rise in its domestic passenger numbers for October, which stood at 8.70 lakh compared to 7.85 lakh in 2009.

The company’s low-budget airline JetLite’s passenger numbers grew by 8.38 percent for the same month, at 3.62 lakh compared to 3.34 lakh in the corresponding month last year.

The statement added that the October numbers have helped the airline maintain its leadership position, with a market share of 26.2 percent.
