BANGALORE - Indian IT bellwether Wipro Technologies late Monday said it has opened a new development centre in Hungarian capital Budapest to expand its presence in central and eastern Europe.
“We have set up the new centre to service the transformational programme of Magyar Telekom, which includes improving its efficiency in customer experience and increase market agility, Wipro European head Jack Smies said in a statement from Budapest.
Wipro signed a multi-year deal early this year with Magyar, Hungary’s largest telecom service provider and a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom.
This strategic move leverages our transformation capability and enables a complete range of business and technology services to be delivered, closer to the customer, Smies said.
Magyar chairman and chief executive Christopher Mattheisen said on the occasion that the centre would help his company to serve its subscribers efficiently on real-time basis.
Hungarian investment director Gergely Lukacsy hoped Wipro’s foray into the eastern country would prompt other Indian technology firms to consider Hungary as a potential venue for investments in Europe.
The new centre also strengthens Wipro’s presence in Eastern Europe, with two similar facilities in Romania and Poland.
