BANGALORE - Wipro’s IT infrastructure management services subsidiary Infocrossing will set up a new data centre at North Carolina in the US to support its growing business, the company said Tuesday.

The new data centre will be built in the building purchased in Cleveland County to support all major platforms, including mainframe, Windows, Unix, Linux and iSeries, the IT bellwether said in a statement here.

The facility, to be designed to meet LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certification, will also house the company’s cloud computing services.

“We are looking for ways to increase the value we deliver to our customers. Vision for the new data centre is to not only increase our data centre footprint, but also build such a facility that brings the best infrastructure technology to our clients,” Wipro Infocrossing president Sameer Kishore said.

The company recently set up a date centre at Meerbusch in Germany.

“Our data centre solutions have become a key component for us when competing for large outsourcing engagements. The addition of Cleveland data centre will enhance our capabilities and capacity, positioning us for greater market share,” Wipro global sales & operations’ president Martha Bejar said.

The US-based Infocrossing, acquired by Wipro for $600 million in August 2007, has been providing comprehensive IT management solutions to large and mid-size enterprises over the last 25 years, operating world-class data centres globally.
