GANDHINAGAR - Industrialist Anil Ambani Wednesday committed Rs.50,000 crore ($11 billion) investment in energy and cement industries in Gujarat on the inaugural day of the state’s biennial global conclave here.

The investment was being committed for cement and coal-based energy projects in the state’s coastal districts of Kutch, Junagarh and Porbandar, Ambani said in the presence of Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

“The investment will be made over the next five-seven years,” he said.

“Gujarat stands apart from other states as it has power surplus. This progressive state is trading its power surplus,” the industrialist said. “I want to say that our group will play a meaningful role in driving the change and transformation that is happening in Gujarat.”

Ambani also said the chief minister of the state was the best and biggest change agent in the state.
