Metro to curtail services for Republic Day, Beating retreat

NEW DELHI - Delhi Metro’s services will be partially curtailed Wednesday and Jan 29 as some key stations will remain closed due to Republic Day and Beating Retreat ceremonies, an official statement said.

Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, and Race Course Metro stations on the Yellow line (HUDA City Centre to Jahangirpuri), Rajiv Chowk, Barakhamba Road, Mandi House and Pragati Maidan on the Blue line (Dwarka Sector 21to Noida City Centre/ Anand Vihar), and Khan Market on the Violet line (Central Secretariat to Badarpur) will remain closed till 12.30 p.m. Wednesday for security reasons as Republic Day celebrations take place, said the statement.

While interchange at Rajiv Chowk and Central Secretariat stations will not be affected, no entry or exit will be allowed. Trains will not stop at Patel Chowk, Udyog Bhawan, and Race Course Metro stations.

On the Blue line, trains will ply in three small loops till 12.30 p.m. Wednesday from Noida City Center to Indraprastha, Anand Vihar to Yamuna Bank and Dwarka Sector 21 to Rajiv Chowk.

The Rajiv Chowk station will,, however, be used only for interchange and no entry, exit or sale of tokens.

On the Violet line, revenue services will be be available from Badarpur to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Central Secretariat will be only for interchange while trains will not stop at Khan Market station till 12.30 p.m. on Wednesday and 3.30 to 6.30 p.m. on Jan 29.

On Jan 29, on the occasion of Beating Retreat, Metro services on HUDA City Centre - Jahangirpuri and Central Secretariat - Badarpur line will be curtailed from 3.30 p.m to 6.30 p.m.

Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan stations will remain closed during this period. However, interchange of passengers at Central Secretariat will be allowed, the Metro statement said.
